As a Business Systems Analyst, you are expected to be an advanced professional in the systems & process design and implementation space and have experience on low, medium and high software implementation projects. The Business Systems Analyst will work with clients to understand their financial technology needs and identify opportunities to improve the document output for their end clients. You will solicit, understand, and document business requirements, processes and workflows developing both written and visual depictions of requirements and process flows.
You will work closely with business stakeholders to ensure the integration of business and functional requirements into plans.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work independently with minimal supervision, establish priorities, and use strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills to add value to each project,
Participate as part of a team with targeted deliverables, working on initiatives designed to improve processes, systems, and applications which support our key businesses
Develop technical requirements through business requirement gathering techniques to understand scope, functional & non-functional relationships, dependencies, risks, and facilitate the communication between business and technology areas
Lead client requirements discussions, including but not limited to:
Data mapping, logic and business rules
Cheque matching when applicable
Complete a handover to development including well documented and clearly defined requirements that satisfy client business needs
Assume an ownership role, on behalf of the client to ensure deliverables meet business/end-user requirements
Build and maintain positive working relationships by effectively communicating and sharing knowledge with your team/peers
Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments and develop expertise in analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery
Scope change requests (add, change, move requests)
Assist with enforcing project goals and direction in order to support the strategic business objectives
Ability to take ownership and lead by example
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related equivalent with excellent knowledge of BA tools and techniques.
5+ years of experience in the Business Systems Analyst field
Working knowledge of Project Management Methodology
Experience within communication management, ideally US credit unions
Strong MS Office and Visio skills
Knowledge of the systems development lifecycle and experience building applications
Exposure to the financial services industry
Experience in the software industry
Experience in Operations, Professional Services or Support
Exposure to PS Reporting, Project Management and time tracking tools
Comfortable working with technical staff at various levels including C-level executives but also developers, testers, and project analysts
Skilled at requirements gathering,
Ideally a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
Strong investigative and diagnostic skills
