TRECA Digital Academy Speech Therapist in Marion, Ohio
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
TRECA Digital Academy provides alternatives to traditional schooling that utilize 21^st^-century technology, allowing students to progress at their own pace. The Speech Therapist must be an innovator who can develop and establish a teletherapy program within TRECA Digital Academy. Must work collaboratively with staff and families to provide therapy, evaluation, and development to students.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintaining open/effective communication with all stakeholders. Using problem-solving techniques to tactfully address and resolve questions/concerns.
- Facilitating the effective planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of speech/language services.
- Consulting with district staff to identify ongoing/emerging speech/language needs of students.
- Completing evaluations to determine eligibility, or continued eligibility, for speech therapy services, including direct assessment of the student. Evaluation may be completed virtually, or face to face.
- Writing and implementing IEPs for students who are identified with a speech disability, or receive speech therapy as a related service.
- Attending and participating in team meetings, such as IEP and ETR meetings.
- Providing direct speech and language therapy in a virtual environment. Some therapy may be provided in a face-to-face environment.
- Maintaining documentation in a Medicaid billing program.
- Teaching skills that help students manage the learning environment.
- Helping parents/ students understand program objectives and performance standards.
- Communicating expectations, providing guidance, and showing an active interest in student progress.
- Documenting student progress as required in correct systems.
- Assist with state testing as needed.
- Assist with summer school as needed.
- Performing other specific job-related duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Speech Therapist License and an Ohio Speech License, or the ability to obtain both licenses.
- Prefer experience working in an instructional setting
- Technological proficiency; home high speed Internet access
- An understanding of the TRECA environment
- An understanding of personalized learning
- Ability to multitask and execute duties according to deadlines
- High degree of flexibility and ability to collaborate with others
- High degree of organization and self-motivation
- Ability to communicate successfully with administration, staff, parents, and students, in both oral and written communications, electronically and hard copy
