Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinic Nurse Manager acts as the clinical leader and staff supervisor who oversees the performance, daily operations, programs, and activities of assigned clinical staff under the direction of the Regional Director of Ambulatory Nursing. The Clinical Manager functions as a resource person to the staff and health professionals within the department. They ensure that established protocols are followed and that staff members provide quality care to patients and their caregivers as champions of Best Practice. The Clinical Manager will utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family members.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Supervises to ensure objectives are met to accomplish departmental goals.

  • Assures a cost effective environment while not compromising the quality of care for patients and their families. Supports the financial management for the department.

  • Supervises clinical operations to ensure area meets or exceeds the expectations of the customers.

  • Guides clinical staff members to ensure processes are efficient and effective in meeting department/service line goals and objectives.

  • Provides clinical leadership through attendance at COLT and MMA/hospital meetings pertinent to the practice. Assures continuity and consistent communication between all staff, providers and administration. Provides leadership through the management of clinical staff members who have a direct impact on the department’s service line of responsibility.

  • Provides direction to clinical staff for patient care in an outpatient setting, evaluating outcomes and adjusting nursing care processes indicated to adhere to legal, ethical, and clinical standards.

  • Maintains and enhances patient services by developing and following proper procedure, and ensuring effective communication and documentation.

  • Works as part of the health care team to ensure all aspects of the patient-centered medical home model are provided to the patients and families served by the practice.

  • Demonstrates standards of a Mission Health Professional Nurse who practices according to the Mission Health Guiding Principles

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program within 6 months AND obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire date into RN position. Previous signed BSN commitment letter OR grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or BSN with MBA or MHA Business management or leadership training.

Required License/ Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON. Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider

Required Experience: At least 3 years of experience in Nursing. Computer skills must include EHR, word processing, internet, and email. Must have strong leadership skills.

Preferred Experience: 4+ years in Nursing and previous supervisory or charge nurse experience. Experience with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), database software, and Kronos timekeeping software.
