Job Title: Millwright

$42.34/hr

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Millwright to join our team. The primary focus will be on maintaining and repairing kilns, but cross-training into mill operations will be provided. Key responsibilities include prioritizing weekly tasks, performing maintenance checks, logging maintenance activities, and ensuring the proper functioning of seven kilns. Specific duties involve changing or repairing fans and motors, conducting basic electrical and plumbing work, welding, concrete repairs, compressor maintenance, and more. Boiler work may be required if you have the relevant experience. Mill duties are secondary but include working with resaws, moulders, planers, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, stackers, and blowers.

Hard Skills

• 5+ years experience as a millwright (ticketed or unticketed)

• Intermediate stick welding experience

• Preventative maintenance experience

• Basic electrical and plumbing skills

• Welding and cutting (aluminum, stick)

• Concrete repair

• Compressor maintenance

• Boiler operation (if experienced)

• Forestry/manufacturing or lumber mill experience

Soft Skills

• Reliable transportation

• Physically capable of bending, crouching, lifting, reaching, maneuvering around machinery, and crawling

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Work Environment

• The role is primarily indoors, with less than 25% of the time spent in uncovered areas.

• The worksite spans 13 acres, and the team starts at 6:30am and works until 3pm, Monday to Friday, with minimal overtime.

• Parking is available on the street or along the fence, but not along the building.

• The dress code requires CSA-approved ankle-high safety boots, while coveralls, ear and eye protection, and gloves are provided.

• The wage is $42.34 per hour, with potential future premiums for power engineering and a $0.50 premium for First Aid Level 2 certification.
