About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer focusing on Technical Leadership within New Product Development group here within the Interventional Cardiology division. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission. Your responsibilities: Lead technical decision making for new Medical Electrical projects including architectural designs, factoring in user needs, and meeting the requirements of the business Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources Help define compliance strategies for IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2, 60601-1-12, and other applicable Medical Electrical safety standards Create schematics, PCB layout, BOM structure, and other design outputs as needed utilizing Altium Designer or similar software Simulate circuits using PSpice or similar software Defines test methods, test method validations, protocols, and reports Provide clear communication to stakeholders as necessary, especially reporting to Senior Leadership with project updates and how risks are being managed Presents convincing arguments for complex ideas and projects at cross-functional meetings in a way that persuades others to agree on recommendations and/or approaches, when appropriate Drives organizational collaboration, consistently makes impactful decisions that drive organizational success Helps select and initiate external contract manufacturers and design partners Work cooperatively with Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and other cross-functional groups on complex projects Mentor and/or provide work direction to Technicians, Interns, and other Engineers as necessary Guides others in resolving and preventing difficult problems in specialized areas; takes a new perspective on existing solutions or solves problems where precedent does not exist Applies business and industry best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges to improve products, processes, or services Is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market and influences strategic decision-making In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar with 8-12 years or more experience OR Master's Degree with 4-8 years or more experience Previous experience with IEC 60601 family of standards Must be comfortable guiding others and making important technical decisions with large, potential impacts to BSC Preferred Qualifications: Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Previous medical product technical development and leadership Electrical schematic, layout, and/or CAD drawing, BOM management, and manufacturing/supplier transfer experience is a major plus Requisition ID:589088 Among other requirements, Boston Scientific maintains specific prohibited substancetesting requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
