Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This is an hourly position based in Manteno, Illinois. You will report to the Manteno Quality Manager and work closely with counterparts including the Quality Manager, R&D Manager, and FSQA Manager. Your main responsibilities will include maintaining orderly records and files for supplier approval and monitoring, product specifications, and quality manual references. You will also be responsible for keeping organized files in the Safety Chain Food Safety & Quality System Management portal and compiling and maintaining technical documents required by various customers. Additionally, you will act as a coordinator between our suppliers and internal teams including Quality, R&D, Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the line to complete basic quality checks such as metal detecting and allergy testing, and take samples to the lab for testing.

  • Maintain product specifications, quality manual references, and other relevant technical references in the shared drive and Safety Chain Food Safety & Quality System Management portal.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation for Organic Raw Materials and Finished Goods, as well as QAI certification documents to ensure compliance with annual audit requirements.

  • Ensure completion of supplier requirements, including maintaining organized files ready for audits at any time.

  • Ensure specs and pricing for new raw materials are available before item setup and update specs for existing raw materials and packaging.

  • Follow up on Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and ensure they are closed promptly, implementing continuous improvement efforts as needed.

  • Review supplier Certificates of Analysis (COA) to ensure all materials received comply with approved specifications.

  • Provide timely responses to customer requests for technical documents, including Customer Surveys, Letters of Guaranty, FG Spec Sheets, 3rd Party Audit Certificates, Audit Reports, CARs, COAs, and Certificates of Insurance.

  • Create FG COAs and ensure they are sent according to customer-specific requirements.

  • Process Sample Requests, Lab Batch Requests (LBR), Spec Change Requests (SCR), and Spec Deviation Requests (SDR) with oversight from the Quality Manager, R&D Manager, and/or Processing Specialist.

  • Summarize Internal Audit Reports and distribute them accordingly.

  • Review action items from RM and FG Ageing reports and execute SCR, SDR, SLE, and SSR as applicable.

  • Complete RM/FG ageing meeting action items in coordination with the Quality Manager and/or Quality Supervisor.

  • Ensure timely updates of RM and FG Ageing reports in Teams.

  • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are properly tagged in coordination with warehouse leadership.

  • Assist the Technical team during audit preparation and actual audits, including Mock Recalls, Traceability, and QAI Mass Balance Exercises.

  • Maintain inventory of various office and lab supplies and initiate Purchase Orders (PO) for replenishment as applicable.

  • Maintain orderly records of department POs for invoice reconciliation purposes.

  • Perform digital Kosher maintenance.

  • Take pictures for quality references.

  • Create statistical charts and graphs.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large food production warehouse where production lines include salad dressing, mustard, and other products. You will work with mixers, bottlers, shipping/receiving, quality control, and more. This is a GMP environment where you must wash your hands before working, wear proper PPE, and adhere to GMP guidelines. Hair nets and beard nets are required. Expect a fast-paced work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manteno, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
