Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with warehouse operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. The Warehouse Supervisor provides leadership/direction to lead the department, and ensures staffing and schedules are adhered to. Completes documentation and carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Safety:

  • Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards; LOTO, wear PPE, and maintain safety equipment. 

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. 

  • Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to management; complete accident investigations. 

  • Ensure safety devices are installed and working properly.

  • Monitor the work environment for general food safety hazards such as condensation monitoring, etc.

Leadership:

  • Build and support a culture at the plant which values Personnel Safety and Food Safety.

Communication

  •  Communicate with peers, subordinates, and leaders in an effective, timely manner.

  • Keep management informed daily of problems incurred during the shift.

  • Communication to and for the team.

  • Confer with appropriate personnel to coordinate activities between departments.

  • Work with QA personnel to ensure all standards are met.

  • Suggest improvements; continuously improve the quality of all support activities.

Personnel

  • Follow good manufacturing practices and HACCP training, along with company pre-requisite programs, SOP’s, and SSOP’s.

  • Enforce all safety rules and company policies; provide appropriate interpretation of company policies and safety policies for team members.

  •  Ensure proper staffing is maintained, including interviewing and hiring new team members.

  • Implement and monitor training for new hires & continuing training of current team members.

  • Maintain attendance records, counsel employees with poor attendance, & follow up with coaching/discipline as appropriate.

  • Appraise work performance: conduct appropriate reviews for team members; give coaching/discipline as appropriate in a consistent and timely manner.

  • Review, correct, and approve timekeeping tool to ensure team members are paid correctly each pay period.

  • Ensure personnel in your department stay productive even during downtimes. Responsibilities

  • Perform paperwork, receiving, and inventory control procedures with complete accuracy. 

  • Understand the concepts of FIFO (First-In-First-Out) on perishable products and ensure successful implementation of FIFO throughout the warehousing system of the facilities.

  • Understand and perform all shipping functions within company and customer guidelines.

  • Understand all warehouse locations; their contents and their role within the warehouse strategy.

  • Successfully work with an established inventory management software system.

  • Continuously search for cost savings within the department.

  • Perform all required duties in order to comply with USDA regulations.

  •  Supports successful implementation of SQF (Safe Quality Foods) within the warehouse department.

  •  Ensures all required sanitation functions are performed within acceptable standards.

  •  Attend all department and company-scheduled meetings.

  •  Ability to perform activities of workers supervised. General

  •  Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Superior accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.

  • Regular attendance is essential.

  • Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience of warehouse and related equipment helpful.

     

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to successfully and safely operate a forklift.

  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.

Language Skills/Mathematical Skills/ Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents such as technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills Strong knowledge of SAP preferred. Working knowledge of computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite helpful

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
