Sr. Field Service Technician - Electrical Job Functions: Job Summary Perform preventative maintenance, start-ups, and repairs on generators; including automatic transfer switches, diesel, and gaseous engines. Promote safe and efficient operation of duties. Travel required. Job Functions (Essential) Service, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul engines, genset systems and their electronic and mechanical systems. Lead on-site work, maintain active list of project timelines and prioritize job tasks Prepare work estimates Commission and operate engines and genset systems Instrument genset systems and record test data Inspect parts to assure conformance to specification Perform field inspections of failed parts and write reports to avoid future incidents Maintain engine, system and equipment log books Maintain detailed records of daily activities Identify and request parts and tools to perform job functions Source local vendors required for field service Work with product groups on product design development Provide input for updates of service manuals and bulletins Instruct customers in safe engine operation, shutdown procedures and troubleshooting Provide technical assistance to other service personnel Remain technically current Maintain a clean and safe work area Analyze technical data Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct. Perform special projects as required Posting Title: Sr. Field Service Technician - Electrical Location: MTU Onsite Energy (Mankato, MN) Functional Area: Customer Service and Support FLSA Code: Non-Exempt Employment Type: OED - Non-Exempt Qualifications: Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Required: Two years mechanical, electrical, or technical trade school and 5 years field service with electrical troubleshooting experience; or 7 years field service with electrical troubleshooting experience. Excellent knowledge of electronics and ability to read blue prints and electronic schematics Ability to travel 60-80% on short notice international and domestic Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range Ability to bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of genset enclosures and compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of time Ability to operate machine shop equipment used for fabricating test parts and equipment Strong ability in the operation and troubleshooting of engines, instrumentation and electronic engine controls Strong ability in the use of mechanical and electric hand tools Strong ability in the use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems Strong ability in technical language and engineering terminology Strong knowledge in the principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics and pneumatics Strong knowledge in the operation of internal combustion engines Strong knowlege in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants and oils Proficient verbal and written English communication skills Good organizational skills Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite Preferred: Experience with MTU engines and electronics Experience in gaseous engine service industry Experience in testing of gaseous engine components Experience in rigging of weights up to 1 ton Experience in report and service letter writing Bi-lingual in Spanish Work Environment: Work Environment Work Conditions: Hands on with operational and shutdown mechanical and electrical equipment Lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment Bending, standing, laying for long periods Completing some tasks in noisy environment.
