Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Clinic Specialist in Manistique, Michigan

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinic Specialist will be a float position that can cover clinical practices as needed. The Clinic Specialist will also help with clinical workflows, staff training and new staff onboarding. The Clinic Specialist is required to provide professional clinical care and assist in the delivery of health care management for patients. This position requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills. The Clinic Specialist must be able to multi-task in a very fast-paced, Family Practice/Specialty medical office environment. Must be a team player with a positive attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current MI state CMA, LPN, or RN license.

  • Previous medical office experience desired, 3 – 5 years minimum.

  • Ability to deal with patients and fellow staff tactfully and courteously.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, other employees, and patients.

  • Knowledge of current medical practices and procedures.

  • Ability to provide quality care and to assist the physician with procedures and exams in the office setting.

  • Accuracy and dedication to providing high quality patient care.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a liaison between clinical staff and the Clinic Manager, communicating issues and needs.

  • Trains new staff.

  • Ensures training of new employees so they can perform their jobs effectively.

  • Evaluates employee performance and providing feedback.

  • Helps oversee the daily workflow of the department.

  • Cover clinical practices as needed.

  • Has knowledge and reinforces the SMH Standards of Behavior and Cornerstone Program.

  • Understands and reinforces SMH and RHC policies. If presented with concerns/questions will work with Clinic Manager and clinic resources to address.

  • Can provide oversight for the VFC and immunization program.

  • Help provide oversight for VA SARS.

  • Continue to perform clinic nursing role and duties including:

  • Takes patients vital signs, chief complaints and prepares patient for the physician examination.

  • Aids the physician so he/she can make the best possible use of his time and provide quality care.

  • Prepare each patient appropriately, seeing that exam rooms are adequately prepared, and that clinical information is made available for physician review.

  • Completes data entry for orders and completed interventions.

  • Performs patient education/teaching at physician’s request.

  • Assists physician with patient phone calls, prescription refills, etc.

  • Provides patient care including injections, various treatments, and diagnostic testing (i.e., pulse oximetry, mini mental exams) and documents accordingly.

  • Assist with restocking exam rooms and makes lists for ordering clinical supplies.

  • Provides accurate documentation in patient EMR and reporting to other agencies (i.e., health department).

  • Assists with RHC Clinic Compliance and Quality as directed by the Clinic Manager and Clinic Director.

  • Has good understanding of Cerner Clinic and Specialty workflows and can assist with clinic workflow questions and concerns in a positive manner.

  • Addresses clinic questions and shares ideas and concerns with the clinic management team to provide solutions.

  • Demonstrates appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.

  • Assists with problem-solving as able, adhering to all RHC and hospital policies and procedures and utilizing other staff and resources, as necessary.

  • Assists with staff orientation and training as requested by the Clinic Manger or Director.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
