Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Clinic Nurse in Manistique, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinic Nurse is required to provide professional nursing care and assists in the delivery of health care management for patients. This position requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills. The Clinic Nurse must be able to multi-task in a very fast paced, family practice/internal medical office environment. Must be a team player with positive attitude. May be trained to help cover family practice and specialty clinic as needed.

The Clinic Nurse works alongside the practitioner and are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease during their visits. The Clinic Nurse plans and manages patient care according to each patient's needs. Will interview patients and records their medical history and physical condition. Obtains patient vital signs and ensures all vital information is obtained for the patient visit. Ensures follow-up care and appointments are scheduled and provides patient education as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current MI state LPN or RN license.

  • Previous medical office experience desired.

  • Ability to deal with patients tactfully and courteously.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, other employees, and patients.

  • Knowledge of current medical practices and procedures.

  • Ability to provide quality care and to assist the physician with procedures and exams in the office setting.

  • Accuracy and dedication to providing high quality patient care.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes patients vital signs, chief complaints and prepares patient for the physician examination.

  • Provides assistance to the provider so he/she can make the best possible use of his time and provide quality care.

  • Responsible for preparing each patient appropriately, seeing that exam rooms are adequately prepared, and that clinical information is made available for physician review.

  • Assures the completion of data entry for orders and completed interventions.

  • Performs patient education/teaching at physician’s request.

  • Assists physician with patient phone calls, prescription refills, etc.

  • Provides patient care including injections, various treatments and diagnostic testing (i.e., pulse oximetry, mini mental exams) and documents accordingly.

  • Restocks exam rooms and makes lists for ordering clinical supplies.

  • Provides accurate documentation in patient EMR and reporting to other agencies (i.e. health department).

  • Maintains accountability of pharmaceutical samples.

  • Maintains appropriate supplies of stock medications with attention to expiration dates.

  • Addresses patient inquiries with tact and courtesy.
