\ \ Visiting Assistant Professor\ \ Department: 3670020320 Social Transformation Studies\ Job no: 517105\ Employment type: Academic / Faculty - 9 month\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: On-site requirement\ Categories: Education / Instructional, Social / Behavioral Sciences\ Pay Grade: 001\ \ \ About This Role:\ The Department of Social Transformation Studies at Kansas State University invites applications for a 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor in American Ethnic Studies with a preferred specialization in Asian American Studies beginning August 2024. Responsibilities will include teaching six courses over the course of the academic year, including the introductory course, AMETH 160: Introduction to American Ethnic Studies, AMETH 354: Asian American Perspectives (which can be tailored to the faculty member\'s interests and expertise), as well as the possibility of other upper-level courses in the candidate\'s area of expertise; and contributing to departmental service.\ \ The Department of Social Transformation Studies was formed in 2022 by the merger of the departments of American Ethnic Studies and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies.   • Advanced graduate training in Ethnic Studies or another relevant discipline with a specific focus in Ethnic Studies. ABDs will be considered.
  • Relevant teaching experience

\ \ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in hand by start of appointment
  • Teaching or research expertise in Asian American Studies, or Comparative Ethnic Studies with an emphasis in Asian American Studies

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
