Dartmouth Health Medical Assistant (MA) Supervisor - Surgical Specialties in Manchester, New Hampshire
Overview
Supervises and coordinates activities of a group of clinical and/or clerical support staff. Provides administrative support in planning and maintaining day-to-day activities and projects. Departments this position oversees include Dermatology/Mohs, Plastic Surgery, Cardiology/Vascular, General Surgery.
Must have current certification with the AAMA or registration with the AMT to be considered.
Responsibilities
Monitors patient flow to ensure efficient use of schedules and rooming of patients.
Writes annual performance appraisals and conducts appraisal meetings.
Ensures adherence to all standards, procedures, and protocols.
Encourages, supports, and provides educational opportunities for employees’ development.
Coordinates the daily operations of the practice.
Ensures staffing, space, furniture, and equipment/supply needs of the office are met.
Analyzes workflows to ensure maximum staff utilization. Works to create a positive and harmonious working environment.
Coordinates employee schedules and assignments and approves employee time off requests.
Performs service recovery to promote patient and employee retention.
Develops, maintains, and revises office procedures and systems in order to ensure efficient, effective operations.
Functions as a resource to management in designing and implementing workflow changes that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Acts as preceptor for new employees.
Facilitates orientation and training for new employees. Monitors completion of orientation checklist and completes computer access requests.
Coordinates and directs special quality improvement pilots and projects involving the clinical support staff.
Serves as liaison with other persons/departments concerning services offered by the office.
May be required to travel to multiple sites.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program with 3 years of clinical experience required.
Experience coordinating activities for a group preferred.
Ability to effectively delegate and hold staff accountable for responsibilities.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
Ability to relate sensitively to people, maintain confidentiality, multi-task, and work well under pressure.
Required Licensure/Certifications
Current BLS certification required.
American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified, American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) plus 2,000-hour Dartmouth-Hitchcock Workforce Readiness Institute (D-H WRI) registered apprenticeship program – CCMA designation.
