United Therapeutics does not provide relocation assistance, housing, or transportation. The selected Co-op will need to be onsite at the Manchester, NH office for the entire duration of this co-op role.

How you’ll contribute

This Co-op will assist a project lead/scientist with in one of the following areas:

Support R&D and process development efforts towards the establishment of robust differentiation processes of iPS cells into a variety of cell types Support production and manufacturing efforts to produce sufficient cells for the tissue engineering team to develop cellularization methods in 3D printed scaffolds Analysis and tracking of in process and release analytics supporting differentiation protocols

Coops are educational positions requiring basic knowledge and understanding of cell biology, preferably iPSC biology, as well as cell culture techniques to support cell production for the cellularization of 3D-printed lung scaffolds.

This is a 6 month commitment onsite in Manchester, NH with weekend and overtime hours.

  • Support the optimization of cellular processes to support the production of iPS-derived lung cells

  • Support the optimization the processes to expand and differentiate iPS cells into various cell types

  • Write and update SOPs and batch records for various differentiation processes

  • Write and update standard operating procedures for operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment

  • Assist in cell studies to address technical and scientific challenges to expansion and differentiation of iPSC-derived cells

  • Record and manage use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments

  • Meet 1:1 with managers to review results and progress

  • Help maintain smooth operations of the lab, including maintenance of lab supplies, monitoring of equipment, providing general lab support, and helping identify areas for improvement

  • Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissues

  • Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

For this role you will need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be at least a rising undergraduate junior and actively enrolled student in an academic program for the duration of the assignment; pursuing a MA/MS, or PhD degree in cell biology, biomedical engineering or related field

  • Knowledge of basic cell culture, aseptic techniques, and basic cellular assays

  • Knowledge of basic cellular assays such as viability

  • Strong attention to detail, knowledge of good lab practices (GLP), and experience following experimental methods and protocols
