As a Planning Engineer in Fab 6 at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be part of the Industrial Engineering team responsible for analyzing and optimizing the performance of the fabrication facility. You will act a coordinator between the area management and the business needs to rationalize requirements and propose solutions with respect to capacity and capital. You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate capacity model for Fabrication areas, and to ensure execution of committed long-term plans and driving gap closure to tactical commitments.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

-Ensure tool capacity is well positioned to meet wafer output requirements at the manufacturing area level through regular quadpod meetings

-Ensure accurate capacity model through periodic audits on key workstation parameters and validation of workstation performance using Datanav

-Design and/or enhance models as needed in order to provide the right accuracy or functionality

-Understand Micron data structure and be able to manipulate, and retrieve data

-Maintain and troubleshoot planning databases such as boxplot and workstation constraint report

-Analyze raw data through statistical data analysis tools

-Make data driven decisions with quadpod through decision analysis tools

-Work with Central teams and partner Fabs to understand and close the gaps in workstation performance to meet external benchmark levels

-Participate and contribute in the area alignment meetings with central teams, to understand upcoming technology changes and workstation performance against Model of Record (MOR)

-Drive areas to close gaps in performance of workstations to model

-Understand the impact to the Fab by performing capacity analysis

-Identify and highlight the driver of changes in each scenarios

-Understand the opportunities to minimize capital expenditure for a given scenario, while identifying the timing of the required capital through scenario analysis

-Update the excess list and work with layout coordinator to understand the need date for deinstalls

-Communicate the Scenario changes with areas and involve the area stakeholders in the strategic decision making process

-Understand the impact of MOR/POR gap on new technology by performing capacity analysis and communicate to all stakeholders

-Provide capacity impact of process or tool changes within the process area

Capital Process

-Ensure the maintenance of accurate tool delivery dates in MICAP

-Keep capacity model accurate through MICAP events, most current delivery, qualification and required in service dates for approved capital, conversions, deinstalls, relocations

-Provide sufficient justification for a capital request to all the stakeholders and site leadership team during the monthly capital process

-Perform NPV calculation on any proposed capital items and provide impact to capacity

Communication and Collaboration:

-Works effectively with personnel both inside and outside of the IE team to come up with solutions

-Able to resolve minor conflict situations without requiring the supervisor to be involved

-Works with the process areas and other fab teams to understand and align on best known methods

-Communications are clear, concise and to the point

-Demonstrates strong verbal and written presentation skills

-Accepts constructive feedback

-Seeks clarification when needed

-Listens attentively without interrupting

-Gather input from stakeholders on critical opportunities

-Appropriate use of E-mail, Face to Face, Telephone, paging modes of communication

-Communicates all concerns regarding obstacles, gaps in training, issues with capability or time constraints

Education/Experience Requirements:

Degree Required: B.S. or equivalent foreign education; or equivalent experience.

Academic Discipline(s): Industrial Engineering is preferred; however, other engineering or related subject areas or equivalent experience may be considered.
