Summary of Role:
This position is in the Failure Analysis Laboratory in GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ 300mm fab in Malta, New York. The ideal candidate will have some technical understanding in semiconductor failure analysis using sample preparation, imaging, and analytical techniques. The candidate will have solid understanding of semiconductor technology and manufacturing.
Essential Responsibilities include:
Support advanced analysis to meet turnaround-time without compromising rising quality
Interact with lab shift team, lab engineers & managers on defining analytical methods needed to achieve expected results, meeting expectations of analyses and interpretation of results
Work closely with process integration, process modules, product and customer engineering organizations to meet all customer technology requirements and deadlines
Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize, cycle time, utilization and cost
Actively participate in continuous improvement processes
Learn and/or develop methodologies to support nonstandard submissions / failure modes
Effective communication (both written and verbal) with peers and cross function areas
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Education – Graduating with Master's or PhD in Materials Science or related field from an accredited degree program.
Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing.
Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
Ability to relocate to Malta, NY
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior related internship or co-op experience.
Semiconductor process knowledge.
Experience using SEM, FIB, TEM sample preparation, TEM imaging, SIMS.
Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness
Strong team member, able to work well with a global team, train new team members as needed and other duties as assigned.
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities
Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory, preferably related to failure analysis, materials science, inorganic chemistry or semiconductor manufacturing would be an advantage.
Direct knowledge of one or more analysis methodologies used in failure analysis for state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing.

Expected Salary Range
$63,500.00 - $142,000.00
