Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, managerial position, and days of work and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) and individuals in this role have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. It is the policy of the College to grant hour for hour compensatory time off, with advance approval, only when employees are required to work on a regularly scheduled day off, Saturday, Sunday or a holiday. Time earned must be used within one fiscal year from the time it is earned.

Starting Salary:$130,000.00 - $160,000.00

Job Summary/Description:

This position reports to the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment, Outreach and Engagement and serves as the chief marketing officer (CMO) for the College. The Director of Marketing will be responsible for developing, implementing and assessing strategic and annual integrated marketing campaigns that will support and help the College to reach and exceed the goals of the Ramapo College strategic plan. Major responsibilities include overseeing all design and placement of college ads, providing oversight and supervision of the college’s marketing and branding efforts and initiatives, and developing assessment measures to report on the return on investment of new marketing initiatives. Additional major responsibilities of this position include the oversight of the college’s web and digital efforts, graphic design and publications, photography, and the Ramapo College brand and logo usage.

Duties/Responsibilities:

DUTIES

  • Oversee strategic planning and execution of the College’s Marketing & Brand strategy, multimedia and creative efforts to create and sustain a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy for Ramapo College. Their work will strengthen Ramapo’s brand perception and marketing efforts in three key areas: enrollment, advancement and institutional reputation.

  • Ensure the brand promise is being met at every stage of the student lifecycle.

  • Act as a storytelling expert, crafting marketing strategies and insights-driven creative briefs that inspire cross-functional partners to deliver results-oriented, brand differentiating work.

  • Lead advertising and media buying strategy, finding innovative opportunities to maximize marketing spend

  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of existing and proposed branding and marketing strategies and vehicles; establish defined goals, objectives and metrics; and monitor progress for all marketing activities.

  • Find innovative ways to connect with new and existing target audiences.

  • Increase brand awareness across multiple platforms.

  • Develop marketing plans, templates and strategies that can be implemented for major projects and initiatives.

  • Create content and provide hands-on editing and guidance of marketing and communications content from team members.

  • Motivate, direct and enhance the performance, aptitudes, abilities and capabilities of the entire marketing staff with a thoughtful and strategic approach to strengthen Ramapo brand perception and marketing efforts in three key areas: enrollment, advancement and institutional reputation.

  • Oversee project management efforts for the team to prioritize work, meet deadlines and provide strategic customer service to all constituents.

  • Keeps current on best practices related to marketing and brand development

  • Manages the Unit's budget.

  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment, Outreach and Engagement.

  • Coordinates with Deans, Program Directors and Schools regarding marketing planning, media placements, and budget allocation including invoicing and transfer of funds for advertising placements.

  • Write and influence policy, social media, web, and branding among other areas that fall under the purview of Marketing and Branding.

  • Oversee the Creation of video content to be used for marketing purposes

  • Ensure coverage of multiple college events including Undergraduate Commencement, Graduate Commencement, Arching (both fall and spring), move-in weekend, Convocation, and other major

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience leading, managing and building marketing teams.

  • Experience in a collective bargaining (preferred)

  • Project Management Experience and knowledge of software solutions to track and assign projects.

  • Experience managing external partners for media placement and other marketing services

  • College events. Coordinate coverage of the majority of on-campus events and related off-campus events directly or through staff delegation.

EDUCATION:

Master’s Degree required in marketing, communications, or related field

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five to eight years of senior professional experience and demonstrated success in marketing campaign execution. Demonstrated knowledge of market research, promotion, advertising, public relations, web, print, broadcast and social media. Progressive experience managing marketing departments and teams, with at least 5 years in a senior manager role.
