Cummins Inc. Quality Engineer in Madrid, Spain

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Quality Engineer – Senior to join our team specializing in Quality for our Powergen Office in San Fernando de Henares, Spain.

This is a hybrid role, with some onsite expectations. It also requires both domestic and international travel to audit and assess supplier sites as needed.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

  • Achieve Quality Certifications: Utilize your certifications and industry knowledge to implement best practices and industry-proven methodologies, such as APQP and Six Sigma, driving zero-defect components and continuous improvement projects.

  • Utilize Statistical Tools: Leverage your proficiency in statistical analysis and quality control tools to monitor and improve supplier performance.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Apply root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to address and resolve quality challenges within the supply base, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Enhance Supplier Quality: Utilize your strong knowledge of quality systems and methodologies to develop and ensure suppliers meet customer requirements, leading to higher quality products.

  • Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Collaborate with suppliers to validate and optimize their manufacturing processes, ensuring they conform to engineering standards and customer requirements.

  • Support Supplier Selection: Contribute to the cross-functional supplier selection process, ensuring that chosen suppliers are capable of delivering high-quality components.

  • Strengthen Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and external customers, enhancing collaboration and communication.

  • Improve Supply Chain Management: Apply your understanding of supply chain management principles to support supplier development and mitigate risks through supplier audits and readiness assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Effective Communication: Develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications that address the unique needs of different audiences, ensuring effective information sharing and collaboration.

  • Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with customers and deliver customer-centric solutions, maintaining a keen understanding of their needs and expectations.

  • Auditing Expertise: Apply auditing skills and Quality Management Systems knowledge to appraise manufacturing processes for quality and safety risks, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Technical and Manufacturing Knowledge: Utilize your understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles, Engineering Standards, and manufacturing technology to design and validate zero defect manufacturing processes that meet technical and customer requirements.

  • Problem Solving and Quality Influence: Employ systematic problem-solving techniques and leverage industry standards to identify root causes, implement data-based solutions, and influence quality-focused decision-making across the organization and with external suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.

  • Equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject.

  • May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Significant experience in quality engineering or a similar role.

  • Preferably, experienced in a Manufacturing or Engineering role, ideally within the power generation industry or related to the data center market.

  • Proven track record of applying quality systems, statistical analysis, and problem-solving techniques in a manufacturing environment.
