JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This position is a multi-functional position within International Academic Programs (IAP), a unit in The International Division, which serves as the largest study abroad office at UW-Madison. IAP administers more than 260 campus-wide study abroad & domestic study away programs and annually sends over 2,500 UW-Madison students abroad. Further information about IAP can be found online here. Responsibilities: Contributes to international program development and management to ensure quality delivery of programs to students abroad. Advises students on opportunities and policies in support of the goal of preparing students for the global and interconnected world. May supervise staff. 20% Advises students about international opportunities 45% Supports students and external partners through international experiences and cultural adjustment following policies, procedures, laws, and health and safety guidelines 5% Assists in the development and implementation of new international program initiatives 15% Works with unit, campus, and external partners on program development and improvement 5% Identifies, plans, and delivers international education programming 5% Travel to program sites abroad as necessary to monitor programs and to implement agreed upon adjustments 5% Participate in office committees and working groups to help with program and office administration Tasks: Manage service functions associated with a portfolio of programs including: program marketing, administrative tasks, pre-departure preparation, student assistance during the study abroad experience, and returned student services. Counsel and advise students (prospective, applicants, participants) about the various aspects of study abroad program opportunities. Counsel and advise students and parents on student preparation and personal needs throughout the study abroad experience. Serve as liaison between IAP and cooperating faculty, staff, and academic departments relating to the portfolio of programs and academic department partnership efforts.
