Oracle Principal Application Developer - ProC/SaaS (REMOTE) in Madison, Wisconsin

Job Description

As Principal Applications Developer in our Oracle Retail Business Unit, you will work on managing Oracle Retail Merchandising Foundation Services on next generation OCI platform to develop & service Retail Global Business Unit Cloud customers.

This role will involve working with the team in designing and architecting key SAAS components of the application & delivering together with a team of senior engineers .



  • Understand the new SAAS business requirements .

  • Work on a Continuous Integration Environment and write build scripts, Jenkins plug-ins etc.

  • Work on fixing security issues in the application, and able to run tools on the application, that identify potential security threats.

  • Work on supporting the batch processing on customer cloud environments and providing the quick resolution on the issues.

  • Ensure that the deliverables produced are of high quality with minimal issues.

  • You will need to actively participate in code reviews, design reviews, and work with team members located in different geographies.

  • You will need to work through ambiguous situations and come up with solutions by doing research at your end.

The individual is required to demonstrate sound technical depth, playing a vital role in designing, enhancing, implementing and scaling the application. A successful candidate will think when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • They will excel in the areas of on long-term technological capability and business needs of the application.

  • They need to be strong on both the front end and back end development.

  • The development platform will be ADF (Application Development framework) with backend as Oracle database and middleware as Oracle WebLogic server

Essential Skills needed for this role:

  • Experience with architecting solutions for Retail Merchandising Systems (RMS)

  • Mastery with design, developing and supporting Retail Merchandising Systems

  • Hands on experience with Retail Merchandising Systems implementations and support

  • Real time experience with developing and troubleshooting and supporting RMS UI and batches

  • Experience with RMS production batch Support

  • Strong knowledge and experience with PL/SQL, Pro*C, Shell scripting

  • Experience with dealing with high volume processing applications


  • Experience with Merchandizing Foundation Cloud Services (MFCS) implementations and support

  • Exposure to SaaS and DevOps

  • Experience with Oracle ADF/JET & Fusion Middleware

Soft skills:

  • Leading and working in a global team

  • Ability to mentor team members

Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of Cloud technology.

  • 15 years applicable experience preferred.

  • Subject matter expertise in Retail industry/Merchandising product space.

  • Knowledge of key Retailers business process.

  • Previous Retail implementation experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication and customers interaction in consulting field is preferred.
