Job Highlights:

SSM Health Dean Medical Group, a 500+ physician multi-specialty group, is recruiting for a Pediatric Neurologist.

  • You will be joining one Pediatric Neurologist, six Adult Neurologists and five Advanced Practitioners (two which are Pediatric Neurology Advanced Practitioners with expertise in management of headache and ADHD).

  • The new physician is expected to have skills and interests in both outpatient and inpatient Neurology, including a Level III NICU .

  • Four-day work week offers an excellent work/life balance.

  • Potential opportunity to provide outreach to affiliated communities in the region 1-2 days/month.

  • Call is taken from home.

  • Pediatric inpatient service is covered by University of Wisconsin Pediatric Hospitalist and Family Practice Residents, promoting relationships with professional colleagues across the community.

  • Opportunities to teach residents and clinic staff.

  • The Department of Neurology offers a full service of Neurology subspecialists, which includes Pediatric Neurology, Epilepsy, Neurophysiology and Stroke.

  • Neuropsychology services for pediatric and adult.

  • Neurology services include EMG/NCS and EEG laboratories; EMG/NCS lab is accredited by the AANEM with exemplary status.

  • EMG/NCS laboratory is the only accredited lab in Madison.

  • The outpatient center EEG lab is fully accredited and provides a full complement of outpatient services in Madison and in many of our outreach locations.

  • St Mary’s Hospital provides the ability to provide long term, monitored EEG studies when that is clinically necessary.

  • The clinic draws from an 18-county service area with a population of 1.3 million people.

  • The St. Mary's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was the first facility in the state of Wisconsin to care for critically ill newborns. The NICU, which is a Level III unit has 31 beds, is staffed by six neonatologists and nurses who specialize in care of 490 critically ill newborns annually.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for obtaining call coverage by other medical staff members for holidays, vacations and other time off.

  • Responsible for the standard of practice for patient population.

  • Responsibility for maintaining a private office and all clinical decision making within the office during times of service.

  • Acts as an advisor and consultant in the establishment of operational policies of the practice to include: (1) Purchasing and capital allocations; (2) Managed care plan participation; (3) Budget and practice expenses; (4) Medicare/Medicaid participation; (5) Billing and collection of professional fees; (6) Personnel management and related policies; (7) Risk management and quality assurance; and (8) Coding compliance.

  • Responsible for after-hours call coverage for patients of the practice, in addition to office appointments.

  • Participates in community service activities, including speaking engagements, writing and special clinical programs as reasonably requested.

  • Responsible for all risk management, coding compliance and quality assurance activities and functions in and related to the practice.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional driving.

  • Rare crawling and running.
