ANCHOR QEA Entry Level Scientist in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Title: Entry-level Scientist Location: Madison, WI Job Type: Regular Full-time What\'s the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, junior-level scientist for our Madison, Wisconsin office to support our local project teams with environmental, civil, and water resources engineering design. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The applicant will have 1-5 years of experience with riverine or stormwater engineering, including hydrodynamic and/or hydraulic numerical modeling experience.Experience with water resources engineering concepts such as shoreline protection, streambank stabilization, living shorelines, and \"engineering with nature\" are preferred.Experience with using CAD, GIS, and/or programming languages such as Python is preferred.Experience with HEC-RAS modeling, slope stability, wetland restoration, stormwater infrastructure design or other aspects of work within streams, rivers, lakes, or coastal regions is preferred. Responsibilities: Water resources engineering, including shoreline protection, river restoration, and \"engineering with nature\" concepts; floodplain modelling; sustainable stormwater management Conducting flood resiliency evaluations, including numerical modelling, adaptive management strategies, and infrastructure upgrades Qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data Writing to support the preparation of project reports, sampling and analysis plans, and design documents Field assignments (position may require short-term travel and/or field work [approximately 15%] depending on project needs) What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g., Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management) 1 to 5 years of experience Experience with water resources engineering and flood resiliency evaluations Experience with hydrodynamic/hydraulic numerical modeling, HEC-RAS modeling Proficiency in MS Office ArcGIS experience a plus Python experience a plus Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) licensure after requisite experience is obtained 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified) Experience with environmental sampling and data analysis Willingness to travel for field projects What Can You Expect?
