Johnson and Johnson MedTech Surgery is seeking a Director of R&D for the NeuWave (Microwave Ablation) portfolio of products located in Madison, Wisconsin . This role will be responsible for leading a diverse team of engineers to develop and execute a pipeline of product solutions that are customer centric and advance surgical capabilities. This position will report directly to the Global VP, R&D Ethicon.

Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with Global Strategic Marketing on pipeline development as a key member of the Platform Leadership Team.

• Lead the pipeline to commercialization from proof of principle through manufacturing scale up and stabilization phases.

• Shape new product development operating models and to help lead the organization focused on a customer-centric solution driven model.

• Ensure the pipeline is comprised of balanced (short-long term, incremental-disruptive, internal-external) opportunities.

• Provide engineering leadership to product development projects

• Assess efficiency of product development systems, develop and implement improvement plans

• Develop acceptance of NeuWave Medical new product development product and services by internal and external customers

• Develop overall product development plans and budgets and ensure execution

• Balance flow of resources among projects and maintain project priorities

• Recommend cancellation of projects that will not meet set objectives

• Provide on-going feedback, coaching and development to team members

• Create an inclusive work environment in which every associate is valued and recognized for their contribution to our success

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Required :

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science or degree in related field

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Research & Development in a highly regulated industry

• Direct management of a diverse cross-functional product development team in a highly matrixed/complex environments

• Track record of successfully bringing global products from concept to market on schedule and within budget

• Strong communication skills

• Excellent project management and strong technical skills required

• Travel: 20% domestic and international travel as required

Preferred :

• Advanced degree preferred.

• Knowledge of FDA and international regulation and standards supporting medical devices preferred

• Demonstrated experience in strategic pipeline development

• Differentiated track record in people development, coaching, creating a strong pipeline of talent and building new capabilities
