JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: With this posting, the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (https://www.engr.wisc.edu/department/nuclear-engineering-engineering-physics) is searching for a tenure track faculty member with expertise in nuclear engineering and engineering physics and AI/ML, as part of the RISE-AI Initiative. We would welcome a spectrum of expertise that focuses on developing and utilizing AI/ML algorithms in nuclear energy, including design, optimization and operation of nuclear energy systems. The successful candidate is expected to have a demonstrated academic record of developing, applying, and publishing AI/ML algorithms and/or tools relevant to system design and optimization. The new hire will have a tenure home in the Department of Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics and will join a faculty community in the Institute for Nuclear Energy Systems with diverse research interests related to nuclear energy applications. As a member of a vibrant nuclear energy research community, the new hire will have many opportunities to establish collaborations with both experimental and computational research groups already active on the UW campus. Faculty members are expected to establish and maintain a world-class graduate research program, teach courses, contribute to the education and professional development of a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in department, college, university, and appropriate community and professional service activities. The Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics (NEEP) in the College of Engineering at UW-Madison enrolls approximately 150 undergraduate students and over 125 MS and PhD graduate students from within the state of Wisconsin and from all over the world. The Department has 12 Primary Faculty, 11 Affiliate Faculty who can serve as advisors of NEEP graduate students, and multiple Teaching Faculty, Emeritus Faculty, and Instructional Staff.
