East River Electric Power Cooperative Commissioning Engineer in Madison, South Dakota

Commissioning Engineer East River Electric Power Cooperative is seeking an engineer to lead the commissioning of substations in the Cooperative's transmission system to ensure that intended equipment operation and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply working knowledge of utility construction and compliance standards to ensure sound engineering practices. East River Electric is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative with a service area that covers 40,000 square miles. We deliver wholesale power to our members, which include 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally-owned electric system in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Our members, in turn, power the properties of the member-owners in their service territories. We believe cooperatives help build stronger communities. Our Community This job opportunity is located at our main campus in Madison, South Dakota. Learn more about Madison on our website: https://www.eastriver.coop/our-communities/ Key responsibilities include: Manage the commissioning of various substation protection, control, and power circuits. Prepare and implement outage plans, energization plans, test procedures, and detailed commissioning plans. Review designs, specifications, settings and test results of protection and control systems and substation equipment. Plan, coordinate, and document the addition of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) in substations and Fault Current Indicators (FCIs) on the transmission system. Ensure the cooperative's compliance with internal, federal and state standards. Develop reports and technical documentation. Prepare specifications and cost estimates for material and equipment. Operate Auto-CAD, AcSELerator QuickSet, and other related software. Collaborate with field crews and subject matter experts to gain operational and technical experience. Maintain open lines of communication across all functional areas of the Cooperative and member systems.
