The Associate Scientific Director, US Medical Affairs (USMA) will report to the Senior Scientific Director, USMA and will be based in Madison, New Jersey. The Associate Scientific Director will provide scientific/medical leadership and support to the execution and implementation of USMA strategies for the Multiple Myeloma Cell Therapy franchise by representation in cross-functional teams, and collaboration within global medical affairs. They may assist in the evaluation and support of MMCT Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs), serve as a disease area expert in content creation, strategic/tactical discussions, and presentations with internal/external experts/ investigators. They will be required to provide support to field medical matrix partners (defining/delivering training communication content, assist escalated KOL engagements, market access meetings, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides input into US regional/ global disease strategies and executes local strategy adaptation for BMS MMCT assets and tactics.

  • Provides disease area expertise and represents USMA withing cross-functional matrix teams, forums (e.g., US Development Team, Worldwide Brand Team, Publication Team, etc.).

  • Represents BMS at professional meetings, congresses, and local symposia; represents USMA at escalated field engagements (KOL & market access leaders).

  • Provides high quality scientific/clinical input and review of: MMCT disease strategy/plans, abstracts, posters, presentation slides, manuscripts, educational materials including slides, webcasts, etc., IIT protocols, steering committee/ advisory board meeting objectives, materials, booth panels, Med info letters, CDPs, Commercial Brand plans, and Integrated Evidence Plans.

  • Tracks priority Medical Affairs tactics and performance to goals/budget.

  • Partners with Scientific Communications on developing publication strategy, gap analyses, content creation, and key scientific statements for local deliverables.

  • Creates and delivers relevant training and materials for the broader USMA teams.

  • In collaboration with field medical training, support field medical in executing MMCT strategic plans.

  • Ability to have Interactions with key stakeholders, as a scientific and strategic expert.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (DNP, MD, PhD, MD) in medicine, molecular biology, genomics, cancer biology or other relevant life sciences area preferred.

  • 3-5 years of academic/industry experience, preferably in clinical/translational research and/or medical affairs in hematology or oncology. Medical Affairs experience highly preferred.

  • Excellent analytical skills and solid experience in translating medical/clinical information into medical affairs strategies, with a robust understanding of the drug development process.

  • Ability to lead and engage in complex scientific discussions to develop, summarize clear follow-up/action plans, and execute.

  • Ability to build relationships, influence and drive organizational engagement at all levels.

  • Knowledge of data sources, reports, and tools to create solid plans (mining databases/other bioinformatics a strong plus).

  • Proficiency in scientific and clinical data review and interpretation.

  • Highly organized and motivated individual with the ability to work independently/effectively with cross functional matrixed teams.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, driving change and innovation across a matrix.

  • Highly effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills, including presentations to large groups, facilitation of interactive discussions, and 1:1 discussion with thought leaders/senior leadership.

  • Travel may be required (approximately 20%)
