Job Summary
The Director of Product Engineering is an integral part of bringing SuperATV’s innovative specialty vehicle products to our customers. In this role, you will report directly to the President & CEO, and be responsible for building and leading a multi-functional engineering department in support of our varied product categories, for UTVs, ATVs, golf carts, and more. You will set and manage capital budgets to ensure design projects are executed to meet budget and timeline objectives. Lead critical decision-making, specifically in areas of product design, drawings and specs, and engineering software needs. Manage across and up the leadership team to ensure positive work relationships between departments. Make hard choices when it comes to people to ensure we maintain our open, honest, and driving culture of WOWing our employees, customers, and business partners.
Primary Duties
Build and manage a team of highly talented engineers responsible for all aspects of design engineering, project management, capital projects, validation, and testing.
Set and manage engineering project budgets and timelines.
Understand engineering project constraints, and find ways around them
Partner with leadership to identify and drive new product opportunities in the marketplace
Work cross functionally across design, engineering, marketing, sales, and supply chain to formulate and execute new product technology developments
Define and drive business requirements of consumer research and execution
Help drive overall business goals
Help maintain New Projects list and long-term needs of the business
Lead your teams to create workflows and Smartsheets to streamline the design function and NPD flow.
Work with Manager’s to ensure 360 communications for all phases of a product design, prototyping, and testing.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
A minimum of a 4-year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
8+ years’ design engineering experience is required.
5+ years’ design engineering leadership experience is required.
