Job Summary

Responsible for installing and configuring emergency vehicle equipment, such as lighting, sirens, communication systems, and more.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during the installation process.

• Ensure that all installations adhere to industry safety standards and regulations.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work completed.

• Keep up to Date about the latest industry trends and technological advancements in emergency vehicle equipment.

• Collaborate with other departments to guarantee seamless communication and coordination during the upfitting process.

• Provide outstanding customer service and support, including on-site training for clients when necessary.

• Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures for more efficient operations.

Nature and Scope

• Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

• Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

• None.

Work Environment

• Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.

• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle customization or upfitting, specifically for emergency vehicles.

• Strong knowledge of emergency vehicle equipment and installation methods.

• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in vehicles.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

• Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment.
