The pay range for this position is $19.60 - $21.64 per hour and based on experience.
This is manual work requiring physical strength in maintaining City grounds, facilities, parks and Senior Center services. Work requires skill in the operation of small to medium equipment. Position will be assigned to either (1) Parks for Grounds and Field Maintenance, (2) Recreation Center for building maintenance or (3) Senior Center for grounds and facility maintenance and transportation assistance. Position may be reassigned to either function at any time.
(1) For Parks - Positions perform
routine, semi-skilled field and ground maintenance/repairat Dublin Park, Palmer Park and all Neighborhood Parks. (2) For Recreation Center(s) - Positions Perform
routine, semi-skilledbuilding maintenance in city buildings and some ground maintenance. (3) For Senior Center - Positions perform facility and grounds maintenance, transportation and care of seniors.
Examples of Responsibilities
May perform one or more of the essential functions:
Grounds and Park Maintenance
Assists with repair of dugouts, benches, picnic tables and pavilions at city parks.
Assists with assembly, installation of playground equipment.
Responsible for the mixing and pouring of concrete.
Responsible for building and repairing fence posts.
Responsible for putting up nets for recreational events.
Responsible for planting of flowers, shrubbery, hedges, and trees.
Mows, fertilizes, and plants grass.
Other duties will include layout of ball fields, as well as lining baseball and soccer fields with chalk and paint.
Will landscape/repair the various ball fields when necessary.
Sets sprinkler systems
Inspects daily for repairs needed pertaining to ball fields or grounds.
Performs other duties as required.
Recreation Center(s)
Moves furniture
Sweeps mops, strips, and waxes floors
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms
Paints buildings
Empties trash cans
Lays floor tile
Repairs dugouts, benches, bleachers and cabinets
Repairs damaged ceiling tiles
Builds park shelters and structures
Makes minor plumbing repairs
Performs other duties as required.
Senior
Center
Moves furniture
Sweeps mops, strips, and waxes floors
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms
Paints buildings
Empties trash cans
Lays floor tile
Repairs damaged ceiling tiles
Makes minor building and plumbing repairs
Ensures safety on buses for senior transportation
Transports senior citizens in bus and other city vehicles
Performs other duties as required.
Job Conditions:

Strong background record required, due to accessibility to employee and city property.
Work around dirt, dust, germs, chemicals, cleaning supplies, and unsanitary conditions at times.
Most job duties are performed outside during all seasons.
Jobs requires flexibility to work on weekends, extended days and other non-normal work hours at times.
SeniorCenterassignment must
maintainCDL license and strong driving record.
Job requires slip resistance/steel toe footwear to be worn during work hours.
Must have valid Drivers License. Strong background record required due to accessibility to children, seniors, employees and city property.
Minimal Qualifications
High school diploma or GED highly preferred.
Must maintain a strong driving record for city-insurance purpose and record may be periodically checked by the city.
Experience operating a tractor with attachments, mower, weed eater, chainsaw, backhoe, front-end mowers and other related lawn equipment.
Experience maintain ng buildings and structures.
National Recreation and Park Association and landscape certifications preferred.
CDL preferred for all positions and required for Senior Center assignment.
Supplemental Information
Some knowledge of the common practices, methods, and materials of maintenance and construction work. Some knowledge of routine grounds maintenance practices.
Knowledge of material and methods used in building and ball field maintenance/repair processes.
Verbal skills to communicate information and needs to other workers, employees and supervisor.
Skills to operate various
light equipment and heavier equipmentin the maintenance of facilities and grounds.
Ability to work independently without close supervision.

Knowledge of square feet of ball field to determine amount of fertilizer, seed, etc. needed for field work.
Reading skills to understand written instructions and diagrams, as well as Math skills to measure line distances on ball fields, etc.
Operating a line spreader and taping machine to line ball fields and taping machine to line ball fields and courts.
Painting and finishing skills.
Some knowledge of the proper safety precautions involved in directing traffic and working in and around heavily congested areas.
Ability to cut grass utilizing small to medium power mowers including riding mowers and tractors and perform maintenance on lawns, borders, trees and shrubs.
Ability to perform simple maintenance and construction tasks.
Ability to use hand and mechanical tools and equipment.
Ability to perform horticultural work, prepare sites for planting, determine needed quantities of supplies and materials, and plant and remove trees, flowers, and shrubs.
Ability to do heavy manual tasks.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
Ability to drive bus and vehicles and plan routes for transportation for Senior Center.
Physical Capabilities:
Work requires the physical ability to perform heavy and sustained lifting and carrying of equipment, materials,
