Tyonek Manufacturing Group Machinist I in Madison, Alabama

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • Candidate will produce parts using standard machining processes.

DUTIES

  • Candidate will calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision measurement instruments.
  • Fabricate assemblies or subassemblies using machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders.
  • Measure and examine complete products to ensure product meets drawing and customer requirements.
  • Make adjustments of a minor nature on basic machine tools. Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and materials onto machines.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Evaluate the machining process to ensure that the area is clear of all potential hazards.
  • Ensure all PPE is in place prior to beginning the machining process.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent and trade school diploma in Machining/Machining Science.
  • 0 to 3 years work history.
  • Capable of controlling the operations of equipment or systems used to produce machined products.
  • Monitoring of gauges, dials and/or other indicators to ensure proper machine operations.
  • Capable of using mathematics to solve problems.
  • The ability to select the right tool for the job.
  • Capable of producing product from engineering drawing.
  • Experienced in the use of precision measurement instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials used in the machining industry.
  • Ability to inspect work area for any potential safety hazards prior to beginning operations.

  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.
  • On occasion must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Works in a manufacturing environment.
