Job Title: Warehouse Lead FLSA: Non-Exempt

Position Type: Full time Department: Outbound

Salary Range: Reports to: Director of Operations

Core Focus

The Warehouse Lead manages and supervises employees to ship, receive, store, and maintain control of all products shipped out of and received into the warehouse while also maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee proper and timely receipt, warehousing, and shipment of product.

  • Identify work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.

  • Issue written and oral instructions.

  • Responsible for training program for all new employees.

  • Rotate and train team on each aspect of the warehouse processes.

  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.

  • Ensure shipments are accurate, on time, and conform to policies, procedures, and customer requirements.

  • Monitor/Measure individual and team productivity and quality. Report Daily, Weekly, Monthly data.

  • Assist employees with work process problems. Instill continuous improvement programs. 

  • Communicate daily with carriers to ensure on time compliance.

  • Communicate with other departments within the company to collaborate and solve problems.

  • Assist with safety and OSHA compliance issues. Build safe working environment.

  • Maintain discipline, morale and harmonious relations among workers.

  • Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area.

    Day to Day Functions

  • Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, logistics, floor productivity, inbound and shipping.

  • Ensure orders are processed and shipped to customers on a timely manner, following quality standards.

  • Establish best practice space mapping, delivery schedules, unloading/receiving procedures, order picking, returns and stocking standards.

  • Develop contingency plans for work volume in case of abnormal operating circumstances.

  • Utilize appropriate managerial techniques to motivate associate staff.

  • Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.

  • Maximize use of existing WMS system and recommend/employ additional technology where appropriate and practical.

  • Ensure operation of all equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area.

  • Maintain proper inventory supply levels (order and replenish).

  • Manage waste and scrap disposal.

    Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years managing a shipping department i n a manufacturing environment/ distribution facility.

  • Experience in a pick / pack type warehouse environment working with direct to consumer, or small parcel type shipments along with LTL quantity orders.

  • Experience shipping EDI orders.

  • Experience with Warehouse Management System and RF scanners.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks & activities.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work OT when required.

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Forklift experience a plus.

  • Computer proficient. Comfortable using MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

  • Good attendance record.

  • Regularly walking, bending, standing, and turning for long periods of time.

  • Having a good sense of balance.

  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination.

  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season.
