Framatome Field Service Rep IV - Principle Nuclear Plant Maintenance Specialist II (Part-Time) in Lynchburg, Virginia

This posting is an evergreen requisition that remains open to build a pool of candidates to fill continuously needed critical positions within the organization. Candidates may not be provided an application status for an extended period of time.

Framatome is seeking part-time BWR and/or PWR Field Service Representatives. BWR Reactor Services and PWR Reactor Services specialize in full scope refueling outage services which include, but is not limited to reactor disassembly/reassembly, fuel handling, under vessel activities, and critical lifts. Work is highly complex and procedurally driven, consisting primarily of tool handling and equipment operation inside containment, in/around the cavity.

Under very broad supervision, this position is responsible for routine to very complex installation, repair, preventative maintenance and testing of tools and equipment at customer sites. Relies on expert experience/judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Frequently directs less experienced staff in the field and provides input regarding performance. Position will be required to perform tasks in radioactive conditions and may be required to work around corrosive chemicals, both requiring the appropriate personal protective equipment to be donned.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Installing, troubleshooting, disassembly/assembly, repairing and maintaining tooling and equipment at plant sites.

  • Conducting a variety of routine to complex field tasks, operating specialized equipment, taking measurements, extracting and compiling data regarding equipment and process performance.

  • Maintaining maintenance logs and certification documentation.

  • Developing procedures required to perform equipment maintenance and operation, field schedules, close out reports, condition reports, etc. as needed.

  • Participating in the planning process and execution of projects as needed.

  • May provide input to training materials and conduct training.

  • Complying with all applicable safety and health rules including personal dose compliance.

  • Work flexible hours and shifts, as required, to ensure timely service.

  • Requires extensive travel to a variety of regional and remote job sites.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education, with a minimum of 6 years of related experience. Additional related training/education may be substituted for comparable years of experience.

  • Expert knowledge of commonly used equipment, practices, procedures, and concepts in a particular field.

  • Specific nuclear reactor plant maintenance training and qualifications.

  • Knowledge of company and industry safety and health policies and programs as required for specific roles.

  • Basic written/verbal skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers, management, suppliers, and customers.

  • Ability to comprehend instructions, policies, procedures, and guidelines required to perform assigned tasks.

  • Current Reactor Services Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 Recent Years of Direct Reactor Services Experience

Travel: Seasonal (35-75%) domestic and international travel. Potential international travel; office environment will be for training purposes.

Essential Job Function Requirements:

Physical (All Shall Be Assessed as Frequently Performed)

  • Transport up to 45 pounds of tooling and equipment 50 feet in distance

  • Transport up to 35 pounds of tooling and equipment up/down 12 steps

  • Push/pull up to 90 pounds of tooling and equipment

  • Remove/replace up to 45 pounds of tooling and equipment from floor to waist and waist to crown

  • Position self to operate tooling and equipment overhead for two minutes at a time

  • Position self to operate tooling and equipment at 12 inches from floor for five minutes at a time

  • Continuous use of arms, hands, wrists, legs, feet, neck and waist

  • Operate machinery, power tools, and impact tools

  • Ascend/descend 25 foot ladder using 3-point contact

  • Traverse on both even and uneven surfaces throughout shift

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time

  • Perform various activities without a break for a minimum of three hours
