Saint-Gobain Associate Site Buyer - Fiber in Lynchburg, Virginia
This position is responsible for managing raw material procurement and inventory for the Seven Hills mill in Lynchburg, VA. The spend year average is around $50M and is related to all fiber and other materials. This position is to support the Category Lead and support the communication between suppliers, freight forwarders, IPG Purchasing team and Plant Management.
The Associate Site Buyer’s role is required to implement, communicate and self-audit Purchasing corporate policies and procedures and adhered to both at the category and site level.
This role focuses on supporting the creation and maintenance of supply networks, procurement strategies and the optimization of best value fiber supply to assigned mill(s).
PLANT PURCHASING DUTIES
Create and follow-up Purchase Orders
Ensure the correct information from Winshuttle to SAP is flowing correctly.
Request acceptance/confirmation from suppliers.
Make necessary changes, if requested by the business.
Create and update the PO follow up list to communicate with Transportation team.
Update monthly price list and share with plant Controller.
Maintain vendor & material source list updated in SAP.
Eventually negotiate prices/conditions with suppliers
Manage inventory level to guarantee material availability for the mill, reduce risks or no stock or too much stock.
By daily/regular communication with the Operations and Planning department
By daily communicating with suppliers and transportation
Create/Maintain a Dashboard

Fiber Market research
Analyze data, future trends, and competitor activities.
Send monthly updates to internal stakeholders.
Regular communication with Category Lead, Plant Management and IPG Management when necessary
Engage regularly with the Quality Manager to ensure consistency of fiber quality.

Manages the daily activities:
Good receipts – make sure all trucks are received in SAP.
Make sure we do not have discrepancies regarding quantities, price, and conditions.
Close open PO’s which deliveries were already made (balance is too small)
Follow up with Transportation team and suppliers on POs not received/delivered as requested.
Ensure suppliers are delivering the minimum quantity agreed per load, if not a surcharge will be applied.
Cancel outstanding orders.
Keep a lean/updated master data.
Material master
Vendor master
Request through VMAS the creation of new suppliers or/and new pickup locations.
Contracts/agreements in SAP
Support other “procurement” activities in Lynchburg or any other CT required location. OTHER DUTIES
Site audits of vendors and/or vendor facility tours when necessary.
Completes all the mandatory purchasing training online and in-person.
Performs analysis of portfolio of spend dashboard and key indexes.
Monitors and mitigates and working to mitigate risks of supply.
Works collaboratively with peers to exchange best practices and enhance professionalism and purchasing skillset to enable an integrated and high-performing purchasing function overall. Travel a 25%
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience which will provide a working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices, and procedures concerned with purchasing activities.
5+ years’ experience in purchasing, inventory management in fibers.
Excellent computer skills; including Microsoft Office.
Passion for accomplishing preferred quality, service, and best value in Purchasing.
PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
SAP systems knowledge (Strongly Preferred)
Comfortable working in a team environment.
Leadership with people, projects, and the facility
Experience using continuous improvement tools.
Experience in a manufacturing environment (Strongly Preferred)
1 to 3+ years of experience in production and/or MRP planning in SAP or similar system.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
