Bank of Bird-in-Hand Teller I in Lykens, Pennsylvania
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teller receives and pays out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. The teller responds to questions concerning customer accounts, both in-person and on the phone, and meets the needs of customers by providing quality service. Required to travel to other branches/bank locations as needed to support business needs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit.
- Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold notices.
- Process savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validity.
- Identify counterfeit currency.
- Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Recognize opportunities to refer clients for additional products.
- Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
- Count and roll loose coins.
- Issues cashier's checks.
- Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
- Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
- Ensure teller station is properly supplied.
- Close accounts when requested.
- Adherence to destruction procedures for confidential shred materials.
- Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks.
- Maintain appropriate currency logs.
- Required to travel 10-15% of the time to support staffing needs of company locations/branches, trainings, professional development, or other relevant work-related travel.
- Follow all bank policies and procedures.
- Accurately and independently count currency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of one year experience as a Bank Teller is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Reliable transportation.
Willing and able to travel to various branches and locations on behalf of the Bank
Ability to read, write, and speak using the English language.
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Bank Teller and/or customer service.

Physical Requirements
Light work. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light to moderate lifting and carrying of coin, supplies, files, etc.
Visual Acuity
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
