Major/Essential Functions:

The Maintenance Technician III will work directly with the Historical Preservation Supervisor and collaborate with the Operations Manager, Heritage Education Manager, and Director of the Lubbock Lake Landmark. This role involves performing skilled maintenance duties, managing natural resources, maintaining rangeland to reflect its pre-European arrival state, and handling various building and maintenance tasks.

  • Perform lawn and landscape maintenance to ensure the grounds are well-kept.

  • Manage and restore natural resources to reflect the historical identity of the rangeland.

  • Coordinate with the Historical Preservation Supervisor to execute ecological management activities.

  • Conduct building and maintenance tasks to support the operational needs of the Landmark.

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift 80 lbs.

  • Maintain a positive and cooperative work environment, contributing to the staff culture.

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with natural resource management and ecological restoration.

  • Familiarity with rangeland management and prescription burns.

  • Experience in historical or cultural site maintenance.

  • Relevant experience in maintenance, landscaping, or natural resource management.

  • Proven ability to perform skilled maintenance tasks and manage outdoor work.

  • Experience or willingness to learn about historical preservation practices.

  • Strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities.

  • Traits should include punctuality, willingness to work, open-mindedness, and a positive attitude towards contributing to the staff culture.

The site is a distinguished unit of the Museum of Texas Tech University, serving as both an archaeological and natural history preserve. Located at 2401 Landmark Drive, Lubbock, TX, it spans 336 acres of native rangeland. The site contains an interpretive center, research lab, ongoing field work, and over 4 ½ miles of walking trails.
