Position Description:

Recruit, enroll and prepare students with developmental disabilities to participate in Project CASE at both Texas Tech University and South Plains College. This position is for use in the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research Only.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Consults with CASE Program Director, Burkhart Center faculty and staff and other collaborative partners on campus and in the community to provide services and support for students with disabilities requesting assistance from the CASE Program.

  • Collect and maintain current files of evaluation information, including time tracking data, wraparound planning documents, and other data as identified by CASE Program Director.

  • Identify options for individual students to enhance their personal and academic growth through the identification and referral to appropriate resources throughout campus and community programs and services.

  • Provide individual consultation to develop individualized Wraparound Plans for each student, identifying strategies to address prioritized student challenges, including the development, recruitment, and facilitation of those Wraparound teams.

  • Identify services and supports from other service agencies and organizations to participate on student Wraparound Teams. This will also include services and support from the TTU/SPC campuses and the Offices of Student Disability Services.

  • Provide individualized coaching for student internships, provide community outreach to local businesses in order to identify and develop employment and internship sites for students.

  • Identify resources, teaching strategies, and professional development activities for assisting faculty and staff in the development of skills for accommodating the needs of students with autism and other complex developmental disabilities.

  • Develop a collection of resources, trainings, and other professional development opportunities for Learning Specialists' growth in assisting college students with autism and other complex developmental disabilities.

  • Prepare professionally written reports on services provided, clientele served, travel/mileage, evaluation reports, and other records for CASE Program as identified by the CASE Program Director.

  • Provide on-site consultation and training to faculty, staff, students, and other community organizations and agency personnel as needed.

  • Physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Travel abilities: have reliable transportation, operate a motor vehicle, and make shorts trips within the Lubbock community and surrounding areas to serve students and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word documents, etc.).

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills; requires close teamwork and collaboration skills that promote a positive working environment.
