Major/Essential Functions:
The College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor for the office of Advising. The Academic Advisor will be responsible with covering the following essential duties:
Advises students majoring and minoring in Communication Studies
Cross-trains with other majors to help assist students outside of assigned major.
Counsel students regarding educational issues such as course selection, class scheduling and registration.
Attends Communication Studies departmental meetings and works closely with the department chair to help assist with scheduling needs and unique student situations.
Maintains effective customer service, teamwork and attitude.
Schedules advising meetings.
Answers student/faculty/staff emails and phone calls in a timely and courteous fashion.
Participates in Red Raider Orientations and Graduations.
Maintains and updates required forms in student advising, orientations and registration.
Maintains accurate and complete student records.
Stays current with TTU and national advising organizations.
Participates in Recruiting events as needed.
Assists the Senior Director and Associate Director with the coordination and scheduling of events.
