Project Overview:

Bechtel is a global provider of engineering, construction, and project management services with a reputation for excellence and innovative project delivery. An opportunity exists within the Bechtel project team to work closely with our customer on a key Bechtel project in Serbia. This project will be one of the largest greenfield projects ever built in Serbia.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development of the project site development plan as it relates to the Early Works and Infrastructure portion of the construction with significant oversight of all construction work requirements.

  • Follows design development and, where possible, suggests economical construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications.

  • Interfaces with Project Team to develop the most economical construction methods and techniques.

  • Participates in overall construction plans, layouts, organization, etc.

  • Participates in Project Team evaluation of home office contracts/subcontracts. Assists in the issuance of field contracts/subcontracts before the field office is established.

  • Develops field organization and construction equipment bar charts, with the assistance of the construction support groups, for the Site Manager.

  • Reviews the implementation of the quality control program by construction.

  • Participates in home office and field meetings with Project Team members, other Bechtel entities, and client personnel as required.

  • Uses individual knowledge and familiarity with the assigned job as well as past experience, with assistance from the construction support groups, to identify potential problem areas or trends.

  • Communicate directly with the field and home office Project Team members regarding significant problem areas, solutions, etc.

  • Reviews cost reports and schedule reports. Highlights problem areas, worsening trends, budget overruns, quantity variances, etc., and brings them to the attention of the Site Manager and other responsible project personnel.

  • Constantly aware of any major quantity changes due to design evolution, scope change, etc. Verify that field and home office documents agree.

  • Follows expediting reports of home office purchased items and coordinates with Procurement for special expediting of potential late items which jeopardize the schedule.

  • Participates in the preparation and review of construction cost estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Contract Management experience including managing Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s.

  • Knowledge of latest construction techniques for the following; Earthworks, underground infrastructure services installation, Camp constructions, road construction, rail, and water pump stations.

  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.

  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health.

  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

  • Extensive experience in construction on large mega projects.
