Description We are inviting applications for the role of Sr. Accountant based in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves performing month-end close activities for an institutional special needs health plan in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and statutory reporting. The Sr. Accountant will also play a key role in implementing a comprehensive SOX framework, ensuring the organization's financial integrity and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process and post journal entries related to monthly financial close activities.

• Carry out regular reconciliation and analysis of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly variances analyses for management reporting.

• Assist in preparing statutory and GAAP Reporting.

• Contribute to the preparation of audit schedules and footnote input.

• Participate in documenting internal processes/controls and suggest improvements where necessary.

• Support the Company’s efforts to implement a comprehensive SOX framework, ensuring financial integrity and compliance.

• Assist in performing business process assessments and identify process improvement opportunities.

• Collaborate with executive management, cross-functional teams, and external auditors to assess financial, operational, and compliance risks, and develop appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.

• Monitor and review control testing results, perform root cause analysis, and support timely remediation of control deficiencies and identified risks.

• Assist with the development of training programs to enhance SOX compliance awareness among employees at all levels of the organization.

• Prepare and present regular reports to management on the status of the SOX compliance program, audit findings, and recommended actions. Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role or accounting field

• Proficient in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Demonstrated experience with general ledger management and journal entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with month-end close procedures

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP software platforms

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy in high volume environments

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is advantageous.
