Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Perform dimensional inspections for first piece qualifications (SOR) and Last shot evaluations
Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)
Provide visual, aesthetic, and quantifiable inspection of product
Insures product meets or exceeds customer’s specifications
Insure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained according to ISO Standards. This includes scheduling maintenance and calibrations as required.
Manage lab test unit inventory and make recommendations for new equipment
Responsible for insuring that both raw materials and product components meet specifications, Maintain raw material and finished goods samples and related documentation
Assist other Quality Inspectors by training on proper inspection procedures, equipment use, tolerances, and acceptable vs. not acceptable product.
Maintain Heldware and AVO databases, provide status reports for each to Quality Manager
Assist production with evaluation of quality/ machine issues by providing product data
Assist with defect containment and auditing of product, may require offsite inspections at the outside warehouse.
Assist quality manager on special projects
Other duties as assigned
PPE Required – Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beardnet (if employee has chin hair greater than 1/8 inch).
Authorities
Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management
Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard
To identify a potential nonconforming situation and initiated AVO and/or begin the nonconforming Product process by containing and identifying product for reselection
Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Multilimb Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet
Walking/Standing ---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.
Knowledge of quality procedures --- Ability to discern quality defects and remove defected product from the line and/or contain the product according to established containment procedures and quality protocol. Knowledge of plastic bottle defect requirements and quality procedures. Extensive knowledge of laboratory equipment to include calipers and Knowledge of calibration requirements and proper use of equipment. Strong math skills. Ability to make decisions with little or no guidance and to relay those decisions in a clear and concise manner to the production management. The ability to analyze and interpret lab results and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Team work – ability to work effectively on a cross-functional team in order to satisfy customer requirements.
Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word and Lotus Notes.
Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
Position Hours
Assigned by Manager, but must be flexible to work any shift and any hours.
Must be flexible to work with off shifts as training/documentation requires.
Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required
Organization Relationships
Report directly to Quality Manager for purposes of scheduling, performance evaluation, and compensation assessment
Indirectly reports to Shift Supervisor for product requirements, quality requirements, and overall departmental goals;
