Job Description: Job Summary: The Nursing Assistant/Monitor Technician assists the nursing staff by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties in caring for patients. All functions must be within the scope of training and instructions received and are under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. He/She will also assist by recognizing and changes in rate, rhythm, NBP, and/or oxygen saturation and communicating those changes to the appropriate clinical personnel. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. 1. Nursing Assistant Provides basic physical care 2. Assists the patient with meeting nutritional needs 3. Assists patients with activity as designated 4. Maintains a safe environment for the patient according to policy and procedure 5. Demonstrates role accountability to the patient, unit and the nursing department 6. Performs and documents appropriate procedures according to hospital policy and procedure. 7. Performs duties that enhance organization of patient care on the unit 8. Transcribes Orders according to policy and procedure 9. Medical record maintenance 10. Documents appropriately and according to policy and procedure on the medical record 11.Enters and transmits computer system information to other department accurately and in a timely manner 12. Initiates cardiac monitoring and maintains equipment and supplies 13. Documents and communicates information regarding patient rhythms and Oxygen saturation Minimum Education, Training and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Successfully completes Monitor Technician class within 90 days of date of hire.
