University of Louisville IT Systems Engineer III (Dental Informatics) in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (8 Salaried)Position Description:The University of Louisville School of Dentistry (ULSD) is seeking an IT Systems Engineer III. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and support of the schools Nutanix HCI, a hyperconverged “multi-cluster” Infrastructure, you will work closely with Dental Informatics desktop and applications groups and the University’s networking, security, other internal teams. As well as managing the dept and school servers, virtual environment this role in conjunction with an MSP, will co-manage our Citrix (MCS) environment.Participating in strategic planning, development and implementation of projects and improvements to school’s systems, the role is paramount to success in driving ULSD’s technology vision. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in budgetary planning, working closely with vendors and internal support departments. Maintain a knowledge base for all technical procedures and systems to strengthen a growing documentation catalogue.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Daily Operations: Oversee daily operations of Nutanix /AHV management and control.Patching/Updating: Keep hypervisor and infrastructure drivers and firmware up to date.Monitoring: Ensure virtual servers are functioning well, performing optimally, and have sufficient space.Citrix Management: Co-manage the Citrix environment, including golden images and related servers.Certificate management: Handle server certificates.Security: Collaborate with IT security for auditing and firewall rule maintenance.License /Contract Management: Renew licenses for Nutanix, Citrix, MSP, Palo Alto, and NVidia.Palo Alto Management: Manage Palo Alto VM series.GPO and AD Management: Manage Group Policy Objects and Active Directory groups for Citrix.Thin Client Support: In conjunction with the desktop group assist with iGel and Thin Client management support.Contribute to the implementation of ULSD’s technology vision.Project management for upgrades/improvements.Engage in budgetary planning and vendor management.Knowledge Base: Maintain and expand a comprehensive knowledge base for technical procedures and systems.Training: Conduct occasional training sessions and present on topics under the position support and departmental offerings to Staff, Faculty and Students.Provide occasional supplemental support and assistance to other groups within the Dental Informatics department as needed.Preferred Qualifications Proven working experience in Citrix.Strong understanding of security principles.Windows Server 2019 & 2022 management.Understanding of HCI, Hypervisor & Virtualization.
