University of Louisville Facilities Coordinator V - Speed School of Engineering in Louisville, Kentucky

Grade 6 (Salaried)Position Description:The University of Louisville is seeking a dedicated and proactive Facilities Coordinator to take on a dynamic, split-role position within the J. B. Speed School of Engineering. This position will focus equally on managing the new, state-of-the-art Speed School Student Success and Research Building and coordinating facilities operations for the entire Speed School of Engineering. This position will play a key role in ensuring the building’s day-to-day operations run smoothly and safely, while also overseeing the broader facilities needs across multiple buildings within the Speed School.In this position for the Speed School Student Success and Research Building, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining this cutting-edge facility, which serves as a hub for innovation, collaboration, research, and academic training. This includes overseeing maintenance, ensuring building safety, and managing key systems such as HVAC, energy management, toxic gas monitoring, and security. This position will also coordinate special projects, upgrades, and emergency preparedness efforts. In addition, as the Facilities Coordinator for the entire Speed School of Engineering, candidate will collaborate with various university departments to address building-wide concerns, coordinate renovations, and ensure the efficient operation of all engineering campus facilities. Candidate will be monitoring and coordinating a multi-floor building and there will also be frequent travel between university buildings to meet with staff, vendors, and university departments.Key Responsibilities:Responsibilities for Speed School Student Success and Research Building (50%):Oversee and manage all aspects of the new Speed School Student Success and Research Building, a modern, state-of-the-art facility designed to foster learning, collaboration, innovation, research, and education.Ensure the building’s operational efficiency, including maintenance, security, safety, and functionality, making sure that the building remains a safe, welcoming, and effective environment for students, faculty, and staff.Coordinate building projects such as repairs, upgrades, and planned maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to academic activities.Manage systems for HVAC, custodial services, grounds maintenance, and energy management to ensure optimal building performance.Supervise building security and safety measures, including lock systems and access control, and act as the point of contact for the Toxic Gas Monitoring System (TGM).Serve as the Building Emergency Coordinator (BEC), responsible for managing emergency preparedness and response procedures for the building.Entire Speed School of Engineering (50%):Act as the primary point of contact for all facilities-related issues across the entire Speed School campus, which includes a variety of academic and research buildings.Work closely with departments such as Speed IT, Physical Plant, DEHS (Environmental Health and Safety), and Public Safety to address campus-wide facilities needs and resolve issues in a timely manner.Maintain and update essential databases, including SPACE (space inventory) and BEAPs (Building Emergency Action Plans), to ensure accurate records of building usage and safety protocols.Assist in the planning and execution of new construction projects, renovations, and upgrades within the Speed School, working alongside university stakeholders to ensure projects are completed efficiently.Oversee procurement and vendor coordination related to building services and supplies, ensuring quality service and cost-effectiveness.Manage ongoing maintenance and improvements across Speed School buildings, working to improve both functionality and sustainability.Preferred Qualifications:Four years of relevant experience in facilities management, engineering, or a related field.Experience or willingness to be trained in Toxic Gas Monitoring System (TGM) and alarm systems.OSHA certification or willingness to undergo training.Previous experience in safety or facilities management, ideally in an industrial, campus, or academic setting.Availability to be on-call and work during off-hours when needed.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and university leadership.Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and room reservation software.Experience working in a university or campus setting, particularly within an engineering or research-focused institution.Strong project management and leadership skills.Previous experience with emergency response planning and safety protocols is highly desired.This position is considered essential personnel and requires the flexibility to work during campus closures or service interruptions, ensuring the ongoing safety and functionality of the facilities.Target Compensation Maximum:$77,600.00Target Compensation Minimum:$51,700.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
