Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Data Engineer Team Lead you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of the infrastructure that supports data storage, processing, and retrieval as needed to support Galen’s institutional effectiveness activities. This role requires a strong background in data engineering, a deep understanding of data management best practices, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of data engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance on best practices, code reviews, and professional development.

2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs.

3. Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure on-time delivery of data engineering projects.

4. Lead the development of student data related to Institutional Effectiveness and other departments via SQL queries and other database query methods.

5. Assists with responding to requests for information from external agencies.

6. Lead the development and maintenance of customized reports against Galen's Student Information System, CRM, and Data warehouse to meet the data needs of faculty and administrators, as it relates to Institutional Effectiveness

7. Lead the development of providing accurate data sets for end user reporting needs using multiple systems.

8. Lead job knowledge by studying relevant development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

9. Lead the development of processes for data integration, ETLs, reporting and storage.

10. Other duties as needed to support the institutional effectiveness activities of the College.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or comparable technical discipline.

Qualifications:

This role requires a strong background in data engineering, a deep understanding of data management best practices, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of data engineers. Minimum 7 years of data related experience with enterprise applications.

• Candidate must demonstrate proficiency using SQL.

• Strong analytical skills with ability to learn new technologies quickly.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

• Communicate effectively through oral and written communication.

• Able to discuss technical issues with non-technical audiences.

• Candidate must have experience in data visualization technology.

• Experience in SSRS and PowerBI are preferred.

• Experience with Ellucian products and Microsoft Dynamics CRM are preferred.

• Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:

• Must be able to sit at a desk for eight hours per day.

• Must be able to travel as needed.
