University of Louisville ULtra is seeking a motivated individual to join our team. Academic Advisor II position will be responsible for assisting with academic advising and planning for the pipeline of Jefferson Community & Technical College (JCTC) students wanting to transfer to University of Louisville. Located at JCTC’s Downtown Campus in Louisville Kentucky, this position will assist students through academic and career decision-making as they develop an understanding of how personal interests, abilities, and values align with academic and career fields. Some remote work available.JOB SUMMARYThis position will be responsible for the pipeline of JCTC students wanting to transfer to UofL’s selective programs and overall recruitment efforts. Specific programmatic knowledge and familiarity with the departments will allow for a better advising experience. This position will also work with JCTC to promote academic “pathways” for students and advisors to ensure that students are taking the correct coursework for transfer.Academic Advisor II will assist students through academic and career decision-making as they develop an understanding of how personal interests, abilities, and values align with academic and career fields. Additionally, academic counselors provide traditional academic advising functions including assisting students with degree planning, registration, and enrollment/re-enrollment processes. Academic Advisor II are expected to develop comprehensive institutional, college, and departmental knowledge including structure, mission, resources, technology, policies, and procedures. Academic Advisor II refers students to other campus services as needed and work closely with campus offices to help students navigate the university's policies and processes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide academic advising to 350 ULtra students interested in UofL programs with detailed knowledge of Selective Admission’s programs at UofL. Using holistic, student-centered approaches, building and nurture on-going relationships to assist students in developing academic, professional, and personal goals to correspond with their long-term plans. Coordinate and organize UL presence at JCTC freshman orientation sessions and for the purposes of advising and recruiting JCTC students.Assist with the coordination of ULtra initiatives. Serve on various campus and community committees as requested or appointed to represent ULtra. Pursue professional development opportunities focused on improving academic advising and student success to enhance knowledge and expand effectiveness as an advisor and member of advising community.Act as liaison with UL and JCTC departments, serve as contact for KCTCS schools, community groups, agencies and JCPS high school counselors.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of three years of experience working in higher education or related field, with a preference of work specifically in academic advising.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Slate or CRM experience, Peoplesoft.
