As a Tooling Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing specialized tools and fixtures crucial for the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace components and systems. You will work closely with a cross-functional team, including manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and technicians, to ensure our manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency and quality. Your keen eye for detail and expertise in tool design will play a vital role in the success of our space exploration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing specialized tools, jigs, and fixtures for the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace components and systems. You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers and design engineers to understand specific manufacturing requirements and constraints, conducting feasibility studies to provide recommendations for tooling solutions that optimize manufacturing efficiency and quality. Using CAD software, you will create detailed tool designs, including 3D models, drawings, and specifications, and conduct design reviews in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure tool designs meet project requirements and standards.

Additionally, you will liaise with suppliers and vendors to select and procure tooling components and materials, and you will develop and maintain comprehensive tooling documentation, including design files, drawings, and specifications. Your role will include supporting manufacturing and assembly teams in the implementation and use of specialized tools and fixtures, conducting tooling validation and verification activities to ensure tool performance and functionality. You will also collaborate with technicians and operators, providing training and guidance on the use of specialized tools and fixtures.

Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in tool design and manufacturing technologies, you will apply relevant knowledge to ongoing projects and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in all tool design and anufacturing activities. Your contribution will be vital in driving the efficiency and quality of our manufacturing processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience

Proven experience in tool design engineering, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.

Strong knowledge of tool design principles and their application to manufacturing processes.

Proficiency in NX for tool design and modeling.

Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes, assembly techniques and requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
