City Of Louisville Planner II Or Senior Planner in Louisville, Colorado

The City of Louisville is looking for a Planner II or Senior Planner to join a small team and work on a range of assignments with an emphasis on historic preservation. The Planner II or Senior Planner is responsible for the management of the City's historic preservation program, conducting development review, and managing or supporting other special projects at an important and exciting time in the community's history. The City's historic preservation program is highly valued and well-resourced with an innovative, incentives-based system. Several infill projects are underway that will create vibrant new places. The City is currently updating its Comprehensive Plan and has several policy and regulatory projects planned or underway addressing topics like housing affordability and community design. Historic Preservation Responsibilities are typically about of this position's time and include but are not limited to:

Administering or updating the City's Historic Preservation Master Plan and Fund, Conducting specialized studies on historic preservation, Supporting the City's Historic Preservation Commission as the staff liaison, Managing requests for landmark designation and historic preservation grants and loans, Evaluating building permits and land use applications for compliance with the City's Old Town and Downtown standards. General Planning Responsibilities are typically the other of this position's time and include but are not limited to: Managing development applications outside of the Old Town and Downtown areas including land use cases and building permits, Supporting or managing special planning projects like zoning code amendments and parts of the Comprehensive Plan update, Preparing staff reports and presentations to the City's Planning Commission and City Council, and Responding to general planning inquiries from other City staff and the public. Assignments are carried out in accordance with general and specific work instructions and in accordance with professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices that are applicable to historic preservation, urban planning, urban design, land use law, and effective public outreach.

This position may be hired at the Planner II or Senior Planner level depending on qualifications at the discretion of Human Resources and the Hiring Manager. This position reports to the Planning Manager.

Planner II Level The Planner II level requires a master's degree in city or regional planning, architecture, historic preservation, or other closely related field and typically two to three years of experience preferably in a municipal setting or a bachelor's degree and minimum of three to four years of experience

Planner II Hiring Range: $69,700 - $94,099

Senior Planner Level The Senior Planner level requires a master's degree in city or regional planning, architecture, historic preservation, or other closely related field and four or more years' experience preferably in a municipal setting or a bachelor's degree and six or more years of experience and exercises more independent project management.

Senior Planner Hiring Range: $84,344 - $113,859
