About the RoleSierra Space is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Operations Planning Intern to join our operations team. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in material planning, production planning and supply chain management, playing a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient availability of materials for our aerospace projects. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in inventory management, demand forecasting, data analytics, production support, and supplier coordination within a dynamic and innovative environment.

Our Interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience. Summer internships are typically 10-12 weeks starting in late May/early June and work an average of 40 hours a week.

Depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria during your internship, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation. As an Intern, you'll ask questions, get involved, bring your ideas, be part of an actual project team, attend planning meetings, complete assignments as tasked by your team, absorb and learn from your team and apply that learning to projects assigned. You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and Sierra Space culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and coordination of material requirements to support production schedules

Support the development and maintenance of inventory control systems to track material availability and usage

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast material needs based on project timelines and production demands

Contribute to the creation and execution of purchase orders and the management of supplier relationships

Assist in the analysis of inventory data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings

Support the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance material planning efficiency

Participate in the resolution of material shortages and expedite orders to meet production deadlines

Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate material planning status and recommendations to stakeholders

Assist with the coordination of logistics and transportation to ensure timely delivery of materials

Minimum Qualificati ns:

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Must have at least one academic term remaining after the completion of the internship

Students must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior undergraduate student or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Program
