About us

We are seeking a full-time Senior Manufacturing Technician to join our LCD Operations team in Loughborough, supporting the Laboratory Products group at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

You will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team dedicated to delivering high-quality service to our clients.

LCD is committed to helping the fight against COVID-19. Our chemicals are critical components in personal and laboratory sanitizers and disinfectants, COVID-19 diagnostic testing, virus research and vaccine work. We serve academic, commercial, contract research organization (CRO), industry and government customers in diverse markets, and we have a proven track record in handling dangerous goods globally across the chemical supply chain.

Working hours:

  • 42 h/week, 7.00 am – 6.00 pm

  • Two shifts (MON-THURS and TUE-FRI), rotating every two weeks

  • Overtime opportunities offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate processing and packaging equipment, including filling machines, labelers, and packing equipment.

  • Weigh, measure, and verify raw materials to ensure accurate batch production.

  • Perform in-process sampling and follow all safe practices, including daily safety checks and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Complete and maintain Quality Records in compliance with regulatory requirements and SOPs.

  • Maintain equipment and work areas in proper operating condition and cleanliness standards.

  • Perform tasks in controlled environments, utilizing Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) controls.

  • Manufacture and inspect products according to company specifications, ensuring product quality and productivity.

  • Lead 5S initiatives on your production line.

  • Participate in training for all processes within the area and maintain a flexible approach to tasks.

  • Identify and raise opportunities for process improvements and hazard reductions.

  • Be prepared to perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

Ideal candidate:

  • Experience in plant operations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MasterControl.

  • Excellent knowledge of job processes with a high attention to detail.

  • Ability to perform all tasks without limitations.

  • Positive attitude with adaptability to change.

Education & Certification:

  • GCSE-level Maths and English (or equivalent).
