About the Role:

As a Lead Building Engineer, you’ll be responsible for preventive maintenance and corrective repairs for buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment and grounds. You’ll govern building system operations and performance.

This job is a part of the Technical/ Engineering Services functional area which focuses on providing technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks, including performing preventive and ongoing maintenance and repairs on equipment/systems and evaluating and recommending equipment improvements to improve availability, capability, and yield.

What You’ll Do:

  • Head maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.

  • Review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed to complete the repair, and maintain inventory of adequate supplies and tools.

  • Lead implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life; supervise repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.

  • Review inspections to building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.

  • Lead shift operations, assign work orders, and/or provide technical and procedural training of coworkers and subcontractors.

  • Oversee compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and minimum of four years experience in complete building operations or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Universal CFC certification required.

  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.

  • Comprehensive understanding of a range of processes, procedures, systems and concepts within own job field.

  • Resolve problems, identifies the most appropriate solution and may establish new techniques to ensure the team is able to meet its objectives.

  • Has direct impact, on the quality of the tasks performed or services provided by the team.

  • Tact and subtlety to exchange ideas and information in a concise and logical way.

  • Use personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training.

  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.

  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets.

  • Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.

  • Conducts basic financial analysis.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong administrative and analytical skills.

  • Provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.

  • Optimally present information.

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union Lead Engineer position is $112,694 annually [or $54.18 per hour]. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale.
