Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit new students annually and advise a cohort of approximately 60 students.

  • Coordinate the Saturday Academy, including hiring instructors (grad students and temp employees.

  • Oversee the academic portion of the summer program, including community college courses, and interface with community college professors and program instructors.

  • Provide academic, career, and individual counseling to student participants.

  • Assist with college and scholarship applications, SAT preparation, and career exploration.

  • Plan and execute educational, cultural, and social field trips and events.

  • Conduct workshops to help participants navigate the high school graduation process.

  • Prepare reports, maintain program files, and ensure compliance with grant and federal regulations.

  • Lead and assign tasks to temporary and student staff.

Work Schedule and Environment:

  • Work Schedule:Tuesday - Saturday. Office work in the morning (starting at 7:30 AM), school visits from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Saturday Academy responsibilities, including class preparations and instructor coordination.

  • Onsite Work:Primarily onsite with very limited remote work. The summer program involves living on campus for 6 weeks with shifts, either day or night.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years

  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Student personnel administration

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field.

  • Experience with TRIO programs (Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, etc.) or relevant outreach programs (Cal-SOAP, GEAR UP, or similar).

  • 2-3 years of experience in student personnel, advising, or similar roles.

  • Strong communication skills with students and parents.

  • Ability to build relationships with students and ensure their participation in programs.

  • Independent work ethic and problem-solving abilities.

  • Reliable presence at designated schools and Saturday Academy.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, mail merges, and data management.

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for daily travel to schools (mileage reimbursed).

  • Ability to live on campus for six weeks during the summer program.

Salary and Benefits:

The annual base salary for this full-time, exempt, grant-funded position is $69,222.48. When extending an offer of employment, USC considers various factors including the scope of responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and external market considerations.
